I collected these leaves with my children and stuck them (the leaves that is) on one of our external glass doors. I still like to collect autumn leaves.
The great banyan of Kolkata
This extraordinary tree is a wonderland of trunks, a place to explore, to get lost, and to marvel in natures treasury. A cool respite from the heat and oppressive humidity of a Kolkata summer, it has been cherished and nursed by generations of gardeners.

Ancient beech of Savernake
The Royal reserves provided a safe haven for much of the ancient English forests and woodlands that persist today. It was raining when I took this photograph with my film camera perched on an old fence post for stability during the long exposure.
The axehandles
There are very few of these Eucalyptus astringens plantations in existence. They are a relict of earlier axe handle and tannin industries in the Western Australian wheatbelt.

Most of the elms in Europe were wiped out by Dutch elm disease. Fortunately Australian trees have mostly been spared this fate and we are left with some truly monumental avenues of honour.
